Privacy policy
Scroll (this website, scrollfinance.app, and the Scroll: Learn Personal Finance app for iPhone and Android) is operated by SyncLabs ("we", "us"). For anything about your data, email hello@scrollfinance.app. We reply to privacy requests within 30 days.
Part 1: this website
You can use every page and calculator on scrollfinance.app without an account. We don't use advertising cookies, and analytics cookies are set only if you accept them.
- Calculators run in your browser. Numbers you type aren't sent to us, to Google Analytics or to anyone else, and they aren't stored on a server. "Copy link" puts your numbers into a link on your clipboard; they go only where you paste it.
- Saved on your device: your theme (light or dark), the currency you picked for the calculators and your cookie choice, in your browser's local storage. You can clear them in your browser settings.
- Hosting: the site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes your IP address and request details to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse, and gives us traffic totals that don't use cookies.
- Email: if you email us, we use your address and message to reply, and keep the conversation as long as needed to deal with it.
- Links to the app stores: store links carry a tag saying which page you came from, so we can see which pages lead to installs. Apple and Google handle the store pages under their own privacy policies.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages people read, how they found the site and which links they follow, so we know what to write and fix. A banner asks before any analytics cookies are set, and "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page lets you change your mind.
- If you accept: Google Analytics sets the cookies
_gaand_ga_6X6GYP6WQC, which last up to 13 months, to tell new visits from returning ones. It records the pages you view (the address without anything after a "?"), the site or campaign that sent you, links you click to leave the site, your approximate location (country and city, worked out from your IP address, which Google Analytics doesn't store), your device type, browser, screen size and language, and how long pages are open. - If you decline, or haven't chosen yet: no analytics cookies are set. Google Analytics receives a page-view signal without cookies or an identifier (Google's Consent Mode), which it uses only to estimate total visits. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as declining and don't show the banner.
- What we don't use: Google Signals, advertising features or remarketing. We don't combine analytics data with app accounts.
- Who processes it: Google acts as our processor. Data may be processed in the United States under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension. Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months.
- Legal basis: your consent for analytics cookies; our legitimate interest in counting visits for the signal sent without cookies. You can object by emailing us.
Part 2: the Scroll app
What we collect
- Your email address and name, when you create an account, and how you sign in (email, Google or Apple).
- Your country (to show the right currency and country lessons), interests, experience level, goals and, if you choose to give it, an income band.
- Your daily reminder time.
- Learning progress: lessons viewed, quiz answers, XP, streaks and bookmarks.
- Purchase history: your Scroll Plus subscription status.
- Device type and operating system, and an IP address and user-agent string in our request log, used for security and to prevent abuse.
We don't collect precise location, contacts, microphone or camera input, or advertising identifiers. Scroll never connects to your bank or any financial account, and never asks for bank logins, account numbers or transactions.
Why, and our legal basis
We use this data only to run the app: your account, a lesson feed matched to your country, level and goals, progress tracking, your reminder and access to what you've paid for. The legal basis is performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b) UK GDPR). The request-log IP address and user agent are processed under our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure (Article 6(1)(f)).
Who processes it
- Supabase: account sign-in and database hosting.
- RevenueCat: in-app purchases and subscription status.
- Apple and Google: if you use Sign in with Apple or Google sign-in, and for purchases through their stores.
- Render: hosting for our backend server.
We don't sell, rent or trade personal data, and we don't use advertising or analytics SDKs that share data for marketing.
International transfers
Some of these providers store data outside the UK, including in the United States and the European Union. Where data leaves the UK, it's protected by appropriate safeguards, including Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the UK Information Commissioner's Office.
How long we keep it
As long as your account is open. If you delete your account or ask us to, we remove your data within 30 days, except records we must keep by law (purchase records held by Apple or Google, for example, or for tax purposes).
Deleting your account
In the app, go to Profile, then Delete account. This permanently removes your account, progress and bookmarks. It doesn't cancel a subscription; cancel that in your App Store or Google Play settings. You can also email hello@scrollfinance.app and we'll delete your data within 30 days.
Notifications and on-device storage
The daily reminder is a local notification scheduled on your phone; no notification content or push tokens are sent to our servers. You can turn it off in the app or in your phone's settings. The app stores sign-in tokens in your phone's secure storage (Keychain on iPhone, encrypted storage on Android) and, for Scroll Plus, cached lessons and offline progress in an on-device database, which syncs to your account so progress follows you to a new phone.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, send it to you in a portable format, or withdraw consent where we rely on consent. Email hello@scrollfinance.app; we respond within 30 days.
- United Kingdom: rights under the UK GDPR. You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
- EU and EEA: rights under the GDPR. You can complain to the data protection authority where you live (directory at edpb.europa.eu).
- California: the right to know, delete and correct personal information and to limit use of sensitive information. We don't sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we won't treat you differently for using your rights. You can complain to the California Privacy Protection Agency at cppa.ca.gov.
- India: rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, including access, correction, erasure, grievance redressal and nominating someone to act for you. You can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Children
Scroll isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us personal data, email hello@scrollfinance.app and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we make significant changes, we'll tell app users by email or in the app before they take effect. The date at the top of this page shows the latest version.
